SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Orange County District Attorney’s Office is seeking the public’s help identifying potential additional victims of a man charged with sexually assaulting two women in Irvine parking structures. Gregory Thomas Ditto, 25, Temecula, is charged with one felony count of attempted kidnapping to commit a sexual offense, two felony counts of assault with intent to commit a sexual offense, one felony count of attempted sexual penetration by a foreign object and force, and one felony count of sexual battery by restraint. If convicted, Ditto faces a maximum sentence of 23 years in state prison. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned today, Aug. 4, 2016, in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. On July 20, 2016, Ditto is accused of approaching Jane Doe 1 from behind, picking her up, and carrying her toward a stairwell in an Irvine Spectrum parking structure. The victim fought off her attacker. Ditto is accused of fleeing the scene. IPD identified Ditto as a possible suspect based on surveillance footage of the parking structure.
On Aug. 2, 2016, the defendant is accused of approaching Jane Doe 2 in a separate parking structure at the Irvine Spectrum and forcing the victim to the ground. Ditto is accused of restraining Jane Doe 2 while attempting to sexually assault the victim. The victim was able to break free. Ditto is then accused of fleeing the scene. Jane Doe 2 noted and provided Ditto’s license plate number to IPD detectives.
Several hours after the second assault, Ditto was arrested by IPD detectives in Lake Elsinore.
