Orange County District Attorney Files Sexual Assault Charges Against Anaheim Teacher

SANTA ANA – February 21, 2003 – The Orange County District Attorney’s office announced today that sexual assault charges have been filed against a teacher at Sycamore Junior High School in Anaheim.  54-year-old Frank Farsad of Laguna Niguel is charged with four (4) counts of statutory rape and seven (7) counts of committing a lewd act with a minor.

Both victims were 16-year-old girls.  One victim was a former student of Farsad’s.  The Anaheim Police Department began to investigate Farsad after an official from the Anaheim Union High School District notified police that he was suspected of possible misconduct.  Farsad was arrested on January 10, 2003.  The crimes allegedly occurred between September 1, 2002 and January 10, 2003.

The bail for Farsad was set at $50,000.  He posted bond and was released from custody.  Farsad faces a maximum sentence of seven (7) years and eight (8) months in state prison.  He will be arraigned on Monday, February 24, 2003, at the North Justice Center in Department N8 at 9 a.m.  The arrest, investigation and prosecution of the defendant is being handled in cooperation with the Anaheim Police Department.
