ORANGE COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE ADOPTS NEEDY FAMILIES FOR HOLIDAYS

Costa Mesa — On Saturday, December 16, 2006, the Orange County District Attorney’s office (OCDA) will host its 8th Annual Adopt-a-Family Program at the Boys & Girls Club of Costa Mesa from 9 a.m. to noon.  Through this program, the OCDA adopts families (identified by the Boys & Girls Club) who need a little assistance during the holiday season.  This holiday event is part of the OCDA’s ongoing commitment to improving the quality of life in the Orange County communities.

Donations from OCDA staff and affiliates will provide 40 families with holiday dinner gift certificates and toys for their children.  This event is made possible through the collaboration between the Boys & Girls Club of Costa Mesa, OCDA Law Office Supervisors, Toys for Tots, OCDA Advisory Commissions, and the OCDA.

All adopted families are invited to attend this special holiday celebration.   At the event, the families will be able to receive their gifts and take part in a fun-filled morning.  The event will feature a resource table, arts and crafts activities, balloons, and baked goods. The resource table will have staff and volunteers on hand to answer questions from the public about the criminal justice system and disseminate bilingual resource booklets.  Of course, the event would not be complete without Santa Claus to greet and take pictures with the children.

The Boys & Girls Club is located at Rea Elementary School at 661 Hamilton Street in the City of Costa Mesa.
