Santa Ana — The Office of the Orange County District Attorney (OCDA) will host its 5th annual Adopt-a-Family event at the Magnolia Park Family Resource Center in Garden Grove from 8am to 12pm this Saturday, December 20th.
Each year, hundreds of OCDA and Advisory Commission donations provide needy families with food and gifts. This has been a very successful year for the program. In fact, 63 families have been adopted for the holidays. Each family will receive a $40.00 gift certificate to Food-4-Less, presents for each child, and a photo opportunity with Santa Claus. Because of the tremendous participation the OCDA is also helping the victims of the Lyon Street fires and Vietnamese refugees. These families were identified by non-profit agencies. The Adopt-a-Family program is part of the on-going commitment of the OCDA to help improve the quality of life of those living in communities that the OCDA serves.
“ I am very heartened that so many of my employees have participated in this program.” Said District Attorney Tony Rackauckas. “ Christmas is about sharing with others and my office has embraced the meaning of the Christmas spirit.”
All adopted families are invited to attend Saturday’s special holiday celebration. They will be able to enjoy a fun-filled morning of activities. Along with Santa Claus, kids can enjoy free face painting, an arts and crafts table, balloons and plenty of tasty treats. OCDA will also have a resource table with staff on hand to answer parents’ questions about the criminal justice system and to inform those in attendance about the various resources available to them through the County of Orange.
This event is made possible through the collaboration of the Magnolia Park Family Resource Center and the Office of the Orange County District Attorney. The Magnolia Park Family Resource Center is located at 11402 Magnolia Avenue in Garden Grove.
