OUTLAW MOTORCYCLE GANG MEMBER SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN PRISON FOR STABBING MAN IN NEWPORT BEACH BAR FIGHT

*One other defendant has been sentenced in this case, six defendants face felony charges

 

NEWPORT BEACH – A member of an outlaw motorcycle gang was sentenced today to eight years in state prison for attempting to murder a man by stabbing him and attempting to slit his throat in a Newport Beach bar fight for the benefit of his gang. Jose Enrique Quinones, 43, Anaheim, pleaded guilty to one felony count of attempted murder and one felony count of street terrorism with a sentencing enhancement for causing great bodily injury. 

 

Seven additional defendants, one of whom has been sentenced, were charged in five felony criminal cases stemming from the July 2008 fight at a Newport Beach bar between members of two outlaw motorcycle gangs.

 

ADDITIONAL DEFENDANTS AND CHARGES

Rodrigo Jose Requejo, 35, Westminster, (Case #08HF1532) pleaded guilty on Dec. 18, 2008, to one felony count of aggravated assault and was sentenced to three years of formal probation and 30 days in jail.

 

Matthew John Aguilar, 30, Anaheim, (Case #08HF1498) is charged with one felony count of possession of a deadly weapon and one felony count of street terrorism. He is out of custody on $50,000 bail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 10, 2009, at 8:30 a.m. in Department H-2, Harbor Justice Center, Newport Beach.

 

Phillip Russell Aguilar, 61, Anaheim, (Case #08HF1498) is charged with one felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon, one felony count of possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, one felony count of possession of a deadly weapon, one felony count of street terrorism, and a sentencing enhancement for criminal street gang activity. He is out of custody on $50,000 bail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 10, 2009, at 8:30 a.m. in Department H-2.

 

Brian David Heslington, 36, Costa Mesa, (Case #08HF1533) is charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and one felony count of possession of a controlled substance with a firearm. He is out of custody on $20,000 bail. He is scheduled for jury trial on July 13, 2009, at 9:00 a.m. in Department C-5, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.

 

John Phillip Lloyd, 41, Costa Mesa, (Case #08HF1496) is charged with one felony count of having a concealed firearm in a vehicle and one felony count of being a gang member carrying a loaded firearm in public. He is out of custody on $50,000 bail. He is scheduled for jury trial on July 6, 2009, at 9:00 a.m. in Department C-5.
