PAROLEE CHARGED WITH PIMPING AND PANDERING UNDERCOVER OFFICER, WHOM HE BELIEVED WAS A 17-YEAR-OLD GIRL ON FACEBOOK
*Defendant is accused of bragging about pimping on Facebook and Twitter
SANTA ANA – A Northern California man on parole for pimping in Orange County has been charged with pimping and pandering an undercover police officer, whom he believed to be a 17-year-old girl, after befriending the “girl” on Facebook. Erik Dejuan McMillian, 32, Oakland, is charged with one felony count each of human trafficking, pandering with a minor over 16 years old by procuring, and attempted pimping of a minor. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 13 years in state prison and lifetime sex offender registration. The People will request McMillian be held on $100,000 bail at his arraignment today, Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, in Department CJ-1, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. The time is to be determined.
McMillian is accused of being a pimp who exploits women and/or children for financial gain. Pimps often establish rigid rules that their victims are expected to follow including requiring victims to turn over payment they receive for sex acts from sex purchasers to their pimp.
The defendant is on parole stemming from a 2012 pimping case in Orange County.
In October 2013, while living in Oakland, McMillian is accused of becoming “friends” on Facebook with an undercover Anaheim Police Department (APD) officer, whom he believed to be a 17-year-old girl in Orange County. The defendant is accused of persuading and inducing the “girl” to work for him as a prostitute. He is accused of exchanging detailed messages on Facebook and through texts instructing the minor female to perform sex acts for money, directed her to follow his instructions, and telling her to send money to him in Oakland. McMillian is accused of directing the female to take a train from Orange County to Oakland to continue working for him.
During the course of these conversations, McMillian is accused of bragging about his pimping activities on Facebook and Twitter.
On Oct. 23, 2013, the Oakland Police Department assisted APD by locating and arresting the defendant. APD investigators went to Oakland to bring McMillian to Orange County to face charges. The defendant is accused of committing the crime of pimping in Orange County without ever physically entering the County.
