SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PLEADS GUILTY TO POSSESSING MORE THAN 9,000 PORNOGRAPHIC IMAGES OF CHILDREN AT HIS HOME

NEWPORT BEACH – A school resource officer for the Santa Ana Unified School District Police Department was convicted today of possessing more than 9,000 images of child pornography on his computer and in his home. Kendall Scott Poole, 51, Irvine, pleaded guilty to the court to one felony count of possession of child pornography. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, five years formal probation, and is required to register as a sex offender.

On March 16, 2007, a family member discovered several pornographic images featuring children in Poole’s Irvine home. The family member contacted the police, who found more than 9,000 pornographic images of children belonging to Poole in a drawer in his bedroom, on his computer, and stored on other electronic accessories. The images, many of them graphic showing intercourse and other sexual activity, featured both boys and girls.

Deputy District Attorney Tony Ferrentino of the Sexual Assault Unit prosecuted this case.
