SEX OFFENDER CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TWO WOMEN AND SHOVING AN 8-MONTH-PREGNANT WOMAN INTO THE STREET
WESTMINSTER – A man registered as a sex offender in Alaska has been charged with sexual battery for assaulting two women in Huntington Beach and pushing the 8-month-pregnant friend of one of his victims into the street. Kenneth Anthony Huskey, 25, Las Vegas, has been charged with two felony counts of false imprisonment by violence, two felony counts of sexual battery by restraint, and one misdemeanor count of battery. He is a registered sex offender in the State of Alaska as a result of a 2003 prior strike conviction for sexual abuse of a minor. If convicted, Huskey faces a maximum sentence of twelve years and eight months in state prison. He is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on Aug. 30, 2010, at 8:30 a.m. in Department W-14, West Justice Center, Westminster.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on Aug. 19, 2010, Huskey is accused of entering a jewelry store on Main Street in Huntington Beach and approaching a female store clerk, Jane Doe #1. He is accused of frightening the victim by telling her that he had been in prison and had previously sexually assaulted a woman. The victim and defendant were alone in the store.
Huskey is accused of following Jane Doe #1 through the store as she attempted to walk away from him and pushing her against a nearby cash register. As the victim pleaded with the defendant to stop, he is accused of grabbing her hips and buttocks, kissing her cheek and lips, making explicit sexual comments, and demanding her phone number. When she was able to break away, Huskey is accused of taking the victim’s cell phone from the store counter and calling his own phone in order to obtain her number. The defendant left the store and the victim called police.
At approximately 4:00 p.m., Huskey is accused of approaching two women, Jane Doe #2 and Jane Doe #3, who were walking on Main Street. He is accused of physically pushing an 8-month-pregnant Jane Doe #3 off of the sidewalk into the street to move her out of his way. Huskey is accused of blocking the other woman’s path by raising his arms and standing in front of her.
As Jane Doe #2 backed away, the defendant is accused of continuing to move toward her, cornering her against a fence. He is accused of putting his arms on either side of the victim, moving his body to keep her from getting away, and demanding that she give him her phone number and take off her sunglasses so that he could see her eyes. The victim pleaded for the defendant to let her go. Huskey is accused of then reaching to grab the victim’s crotch and grabbing her thigh when the victim shifted to get away. Jane Doe #2 contacted the police after he walked away.
At approximately 5:35 p.m., Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) officers stopped Huskey in a routine traffic stop for dark tint on his vehicle windows. At the time of his arrest, Huskey is accused of having Jane Doe #1’s phone number in his cell phone.
This case was investigated by HBPD. Anyone with additional information or who believes they have been a victim is encouraged to contact Supervising District Attorney Investigator Carl Waddell at (714) 834-7538.
