SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS AND EIGHT MONTHS IN PRISON FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TWO WOMEN AND SHOVING AN 8-MONTH-PREGNANT WOMAN INTO THE STREET

SANTA ANA – A registered Alaska sex offender was sentenced today to six years and eight months in state prison for sexually assaulting two women in Huntington Beach and pushing the 8-month-pregnant friend of one of his victims into the street. Kenneth Anthony Huskey, 26, Las Vegas, pleaded guilty to a court offer to two felony counts of false imprisonment by violence, one felony count of sexual battery by restraint, one felony count of assault with the intent to commit a sexual offense, and one misdemeanor count of battery. He is a registered sex offender in the State of Alaska as a result of a 2003 prior strike conviction for sexual abuse of a minor.

At approximately 3:00 p.m. on Aug. 19, 2010, Huskey entered a jewelry store on Main Street in Huntington Beach and approached a female store clerk, Jane Doe #1. He frightened the victim by telling her that he had been in prison and had previously sexually assaulted a woman. The victim and defendant were alone in the store.

Huskey followed Jane Doe #1 through the store as she attempted to walk away from him and pushed her against a nearby cash register. The victim pleaded with the defendant to stop but instead he grabbed her hips and buttocks, kissed her cheek and lips, made explicit sexual comments, and demanded her phone number. When she was able to break away, Huskey took the victim’s cell phone from the store counter and called his own phone in order to obtain her number. The defendant left the store and the victim called police.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., Huskey approached two women, Jane Doe #2 and Jane Doe #3, who were walking on Main Street. He physically pushed an 8-month-pregnant Jane Doe #3 off of the sidewalk into the street to move her out of his way. Huskey blocked the other woman’s path by raising his arms and standing in front of her.

As Jane Doe #2 backed away, the defendant continued to move toward her, cornering her against a fence. He put his arms on either side of the victim, moving his body to keep her from getting away, and demanded that she give him her phone number and take off her sunglasses so that he could see her eyes. The victim pleaded for the defendant to let her go. Huskey then reached to grab the victim’s crotch but the victim shifted to get away and he grabbed her thigh instead. Jane Doe #2 contacted the police after Huskey walked away.

At approximately 5:35 p.m., Huntington Beach Police Department officers stopped Huskey in a routine traffic stop for having dark tint on his vehicle windows. At the time of his arrest, Huskey had Jane Doe #1’s phone number in his cell phone.

During the sentencing today, written victim impact statements were submitted by two of Huskey’s victims. Jane Doe #1 wrote, “I now find myself scared walking around my school. I’m scared in the parking lot, and even in the library. When a guy looks at me, I fear that he is going to attach me like Mr. Huskey did. I now view men completely differently.” Jane Doe #2 wrote, “To this day, I am always on the lookout [for who is] walking close to me and get scared easily if a stranger walks a little too close. I have never encountered a situation that made me as scared as I was that day.”
