TEEN CHARGED AS AN ADULT FOR STABBING-MURDER OF 19-YEAR-OLD MAN IN PARK
SANTA ANA – A teenager has been charged as an adult for murdering a 19-year-old man by stabbing him in the chest during a fight in a Huntington Beach park. Jesse Shockey, 16, Garden Grove, has been direct filed as an adult and is charged with one felony count of murder and a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in state prison. The defendant is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled for continued arraignment Jan. 17, 2012, at 8:30 a.m. in Department C-57, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.
Approximately two weeks prior to Dec. 21, 2011, Shockey is accused of getting into an argument in Lark View Park in Huntington Beach with the friends of 19-year-old Dylan Austin.
At approximately 9:40 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2011, Shockey is accused of going to the same park again with his friends. The defendant is accused of arming himself with a knife upon observing Austin approaching with his own friends. Shockey is accused of getting into a physical fight with the victim and murdering him by stabbing him one time in the chest.
The defendant is accused of fleeing the scene with his friends. Witnesses called 911.
The Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) investigated this case. The investigation is ongoing.
