TEEN CHARGED AS AN ADULT FOR STABBING-MURDER OF 19-YEAR-OLD MAN IN PARK

SANTA ANA – A teenager has been charged as an adult for murdering a 19-year-old man by stabbing him in the chest during a fight in a Huntington Beach park. Jesse Shockey, 16, Garden Grove, has been direct filed as an adult and is charged with one felony count of murder and a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in state prison. The defendant is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled for continued arraignment Jan. 17, 2012, at 8:30 a.m. in Department C-57, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2011, Shockey is accused of going to the same park again with his friends. The defendant is accused of arming himself with a knife upon observing Austin approaching with his own friends.
