THE ORANGE COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE CELEBRATES THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS BY SPONSORING 40 NEEDY FAMILIES FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Santa Ana — The Office of the Orange County District Attorney (OCDA) will host its 6th annual Adopt-a-Family event at the Valencia Community Center in Fullerton from 8 AM to 12 PM this Saturday, December 11th, 2004.

Each year the OCDA and advisory commission donations provide needy families with food and gifts. This has been another successful year for the program as 40 families have been adopted for the holidays. Each family will receive a $40.00 gift certificate to Food-4-Less, presents for each child, and a photo opportunity with Santa Claus. These families were identified for assistance by non-profit agencies. The Adopt-a-Family program is part of the on-going commitment of the OCDA to help improve the quality of life of those living in the communities that the OCDA serves.

“Giving back to the community is an important part of the work we do at the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. It warms my heart to see so many of my employees participating in this program.” said District Attorney Tony Rackauckas. “Christmas is about sharing with others and my office has embraced the meaning of the Christmas spirit, sharing their good fortune with those less fortunate.”

All adopted families are invited to join District Attorney Tony Rackauckas at Saturday’s special holiday celebration. They will enjoy a fun-filled morning of activities. Along with Santa Claus, kids can enjoy free face painting, an arts and crafts table, balloons and plenty of tasty treats.  OCDA will also have a resource table with staff on hand to answer parents’ questions about the criminal justice system and to inform those in attendance about the various resources available to them through the County of Orange.
This event is made possible through the collaboration of the Valencia Community Center and the Office of the Orange County District Attorney. The community center is located in Richman Park at 711 S. Highland, Fullerton, CA 92832.
