SANTA ANA – A man accused of murdering a mother, father, and son in Garden Grove will be in court tomorrow. Quang Van Quan, 35, of Houston, will be arraigned on three counts of murder with special circumstances due to the fact that there are multiple victims and that the murders were committed during the commission of a felony. This is also a third strike for Quan, as he has previously been convicted of felony assault and robbery. If convicted, Quan faces life without the possibility or parole, and makes him eligible for the death penalty. He is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow, July 18, 2006 at 9:00 am in C5, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.
Quan is accused of murdering three family members in their Garden Grove home. He is accused of stabbing Phuong Le, 30, his wife Ngoc Lam, 25, and their 7-year-old son Tommy Lam on May 29th and leaving them for dead. Quan is accused of knowing the family members and entering the home and murdering the three. Quan is also accused of robbing the family while in the house.
Police were contacted after Ngoc Lam failed to show up for work and coworkers became concerned. The three murdered victims were found in different rooms throughout the home, and the couple’s 10-month-old girl was found dehydrated and left for dead crawling around the house.
Deputy District Attorney Larry Yellin is prosecuting this case. Anyone with information regarding this case should contact District Attorney Investigator Bob Sayne at (714) 347-8475.
