TWO MEN CHARGED IN SHOOTING-MURDER OF ANOTHER MAN IN ANAHEIM PARK
SANTA ANA – Two men were charged today in the shooting-murder of another man at an Anaheim park. Adam Jay Stone, 28, Anaheim, is charged with one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for personal discharge of a firearm causing death. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 50 years to life in state prison.
Co-defendant Ransom Lewis Cook, 24, Westminster, is charged with one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for being armed with a firearm. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in state prison. Both defendants are each being held on $1 million bail. Today’s scheduled arraignment for the defendants was continued in court to Jan. 23, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana.
On the afternoon of Jan. 7, 2015, Cook is accused of driving Stone to Twila Reid Park in Anaheim. At approximately 4:50 p.m., Stone is accused of leaving the vehicle armed with a loaded firearm. Stone is accused of shooting 29-year-old victim Alexander McMoore once in the head.
Stone is accused of running back into the car being driven by Cook. Cook is accused of driving from the park with Stone.
The Anaheim Police Department (APD), who investigated this case, was contacted by witnesses following the shooting. APD officers were able to locate the defendants and arrested them later that evening. The investigation in this case is ongoing and no further information will be disclosed at this time.
