WARRANT ISSUED FOR TWO MEN CHARGED WITH ORANGE COUNTY CRIME SPREE AGAINST NINE VICTIMS INCLUDING SUPERIOR COURT JUDGE
SANTA ANA – A warrant has been issued for two men charged with a 1-day, nine victim crime spree in Orange County. One of the victims included a Superior Court Judge. Sam Fields, 25, and Adan Alarcon, 22, both of Paramount, are charged with felonies for grand theft, two counts of carjacking, three counts of 2nd degree robbery, attempted 1st degree robbery, first degree residential burglary, two counts of 1st degree robbery, and one counts each of possession of a firearm by a felon. Fields faces two sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a firearm, and Alarcon faces enhancements for the personal use of a firearm and being armed with a firearm. If convicted of all charges, Alarcon faces 30 years in prison. Fields is a third striker and faces 35 years to life. A warrant was issued Friday, November 16, 2007 for their arrest. Both defendants are in custody in Los Angeles on unrelated charges and will appear in an Orange County court after their Los Angeles cases are resolved.
On the early morning of November 2, 2007, Fields and Alarcon are accused of breaking into a van in Santa Ana belonging to John Doe #1, and stealing power tools from inside. At approximately 4:30 a.m. the same morning, the defendants are accused of approaching John Doe #2, who was sitting in his Ford Mustang, and carjacking him at gunpoint. At approximately 6:00 a.m., the defendants are accused of approaching John Doe #3 as he was purchasing a newspaper in Santa Ana, and robbing him at gunpoint. They are accused of stealing the victim’s money and credit cards.
At about 6:15 a.m., Fields is accused of approaching an Orange County Superior Court judge, Jane Doe #1, in the garage of her Santa Ana home. He is accused of pointing a handgun at her and ordering her to turn off the home alarm. The victim ran out of the garage and screamed for help, and the defendant fled the scene. No property was stolen.
Later that morning, Fields and Alarcon are accused of carjacking a Chrysler Sebring from John Doe #4 at gunpoint in Garden Grove. They are accused of robbing John Doe #5 while the victim was at a gas station in Westminster and stealing his cell phone. Fields and Alarcon are accused of breaking into the car of John Doe #6 and stealing his car stereo.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., John Doe #7 and Jane Doe #2 were inside their garage. Fields and Alarcon are accused of entering the garage and robbing the victims of their purse and wallet at gunpoint.
Assistant District Attorney Walt Schwarm of the Career Criminals Unit is prosecuting this case.
