WOMAN CHARGED WITH HUMAN TRAFFICKING 17-YEAR-OLD RUNAWAY IN ORANGE COUNTY

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A woman was charged with human trafficking a 17-year-old runaway girl in Orange County.

Circumstances of the Case

  • Prior to March 2018, Moran is accused of meeting 17-year-old Jane Doe and convincing the victim to engage in commercial sex acts for her benefit.
  • Between March 1, 2018 and May 16, 2018, Moran is accused of driving the victim to areas known for prostitution and human trafficking in Orange County and supervising the victim as she engaged in commercial sex.
  • On May 16, 2018, members of the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF) located an advertisement depicting Jane Doe, who appeared to be a minor, on a website known for prostitution and arranged to meet the victim at a hotel in Anaheim.
  • Upon contacting the victim, OCHTTF investigators located and arrested Moran at the scene.
  • Moran is accused of possessing a cell phone containing text messages to the victim consistent with pimping and pandering.

Members of the OCHTTF and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) work proactively each day to protect women and minors from falling victim to commercial sexual exploitation. OCHTTF is a partnership between Anaheim Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Costa Mesa Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, Irvine Police Department, Newport Beach Police Department, OCDA, Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Santa Ana Police Department, and community and non-profit partners
