YOUTUBER CONVICTED OF TRESPASSING AFTER FILMING HIMSELF JUMPING INTO OCEAN AND POOLS FROM PRIVATE PROPERTY IN LAGUNA AND NEWPORT BEACH

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – A YouTuber was convicted today of trespassing after jumping into the ocean and pools from private property in Laguna and Newport Beach and posting videos of the incidents.

Pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of:

  • (2) Unauthorized entry of a dwelling
  • (2) Trespassing with intent to interfere with business

  • Three years of informal probation
  • 100 hours of community service
  • One day in county jail

Circumstances of the Case

  • On July 21, 2016, Armer climbed over a retaining wall onto the gated property of a private residence in Laguna Beach.
  • The defendant then climbed onto the roof of the residence and jumped into the ocean near Table Rock Beach.
  • Armer recorded the incident and posted the video on YouTube.
  • The Laguna Beach Police Department (LBPD) investigated the incident after the video gained media attention, and the homeowner confirmed Armer did not have permission to access their property.
  • On Sept. 29, 2016, Armer climbed over a wall and accessed employee-only areas of the Surf and Sand Hotel in Laguna Beach.
  • The defendant climbed to the fifth floor of the hotel and jumped into the gated, guest-only pool.
  • Armer was not a guest of the hotel, and hotel employees reported the event to LBPD.
  • On Oct. 6, 2016, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Armer entered Newport Towers, a private residential building on West Coast Highway in Newport Beach.
  • The defendant ran up several flights of stairs and jumping from the building’s roof to the harbor below.
  • Newport Towers security reported the trespassing to the Newport Beach Police Department (NBPD).
  • Armer was charged with three misdemeanor counts on Oct. 25, 2016, and LBPD arrested the defendant the next day.
  • On Dec. 28, 2016, Armer trespassed onto the roof of the Pacific Edge Hotel in Laguna Beach and jumped into the hotel swimming pool. The defendant sustained severe injuries to both feet during the incident.

LBPD and NBPD investigated this case.
